Maine sunsets
Maine sunsets from a porch at Bradford Camps. Depending on the time of year, the sun might set while you are out fishing on Munsungun Lake, or long after you have had dinner and are relaxing on your porch.
Back in 1890 or so, Wil Atkins set about finding a spot for his new sporting camp. He came up the Arroostook River and decided Munsungan Lake would make a great spot. There were plenty of fish in the lake, and plenty of wild game around to keep his sports happy.
But where on Munsungan would be the right spot?
It is clear today that he knoew what he was doing when he chose the Norway Brook inlet site for Atkin's Camps (now Bradford Camps). There was a year round supply of fresh running water, a large flat esker area for the cabins (which proved very dry and bug free) a fresh breeze from the two prevailing wind directions (south and northwest) and a chance for a spectacular sunset every night.
Thank you Wil Atkins!
